Day of dance
29 April is the international "Day of Dance", and we take the opportunity to dream back to 10 June last year when the Norwegian National Ballet danced at Hoven - 1011 meters above the fjord. "When the audience can't come to the Opera, the Opera comes to the audience" was the motto when the Norwegian National Ballet went on tour during the corona year.
The guests got to experience some of the best dancers in Norway and the world:
Leyna Magbutay and Martin Dauchez dance a pas da deux - dance for two - from the classic ballet Giselle
Nae Nishimura dances Death of a Swan by Michel Fokine.
Nae Nishimura, Rebekah Bloomfield, Johanne Wien Pedersen, Astrid Lyngstad and Sofie Ruthenbeck danced Resin, a humorous modern ballet that plays with classical ballet, created by Alexander Ekman
Daniela Cabrera and Yoel Carreño dance a pas de deux from the ballet Le Corsaire
Isabel Vila and Gakuro Matsui dance a pas de deux from the classic ballet La Sylphide.

About the Norwegian National Ballet and "The National Ballet is coming"
The Norwegian National Ballet is Norway's only ballet company and is based at the Oslo Opera House. They dance classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, as well as modern works by major international choreographers and newly created works. Ingrid Lorentzen has been director of the Norwegian National Ballet since 2012, after many years as a soloist in the company. There are a total of 75 dancers in the main company and the company for young dancers, Nasjonalballetten UNG. The dancers come from all over the world.
The Norwegian National Ballet's in-house director Marit Moum Aune is behind the concept "The National Ballet is coming!". She has created some of the company's greatest successes and is a renowned theater and film director. More than 20 local nursing homes and a prison were able to experience ballet in the preview performance "The Norwegian National Ballet is coming!" in Oslo. The success was extended with a tour to Østfold, Innlandet and Vestland, in collaboration with their main partners OBOS and Norsk Tipping.
