Sustainability
Environmental care and sustainability are important to Loen Skylift and Hoven Restaurant, and in 2022 we were certified as an Eco-Lighthouse.
When selecting the type of cable car, we chose a system that uses the most environmentally friendly technology for this type of installation. A pendulum uses the effect of weight equalization between the two cabins and is therefore very energy efficient. All operations, apart from backup, are electric. All transportation of goods and personnel goes through the aerial tramway, to save time, money and emissions. We recycle as much as possible through the systems available in the municipality. Paper, plastic, food waste, glass, metal packaging, EE waste, etc. are sorted.
The hiking trails are designed to control traffic, avoid wear and tear on the terrain, prevent erosion and facilitate increased physical activity. The trail network is a public asset that benefits both locals and visitors. Further development of the hiking trails is an important focus area for the future. But in order for the trails to be nice to use, it is also important that everyone who walks in the mountains also takes care. Here you will find tips for hiking without leaving any trace.
The project is locally owned and strengthens Stryn municipality and the region as a place to live, work and visit. New and long-term year-round jobs have been created in Loen Skylift and at primary suppliers such as Hotel Alexandra, Loen Active, Utmarksressurs etc. Analyses show that the project will create at least 50 permanent jobs and an increase in annual turnover of approximately NOK 100 million, as well as increased tax revenues for the municipality. The aim is to distribute traffic over large parts of the year.
Primarily local and regional companies have been part of the development of the Loen Skylift project, which has also increased activity and turnover among contractors and subcontractors. During the development period, at least 100 man-years were used (ref. report PwC 2017).
Loen Skylift complements the destination products and opens up for extensive cooperation with other companies and organizations, and due to Loen Skylift's attraction power, the project contributes to new establishment and growth of existing businesses in the area. In addition, there are ripple effects such as people moving here, and increased demand for consumer goods and services. By making Loen Skylift available all year round, it also contributes to year-round tourism , which is very important for value creation and secure jobs.
Loen Skylift and its surrounding buildings are universally designed to ensure that those with disabilities can also use the facilities. At the top, the paths around the building are paved.
We support local volunteer teams and organizations, as well as selected national/regional initiatives.
Loen Skylift and Hoven The restaurant is, like the rest of the Alexandra Group , certified as an Environmental Lighthouse .
