Via Ferrata Loen
Via Ferrata Loen is a spectacular climbing trail that is secured with a wire all the way, and takes you up from the fjord to the top of the mountain Hoven at 1011 m. All the way with a magnificent view of the fjord, Lodalen , Oldedalen, majestic Skåla and the mountains towards Jostedalsbreen. At 750 meters above the fjord you can cross Europe's longest via ferrata bridge, and at the top you can visit Hoven Restaurant before returning to fjord level with the Loen Skylift. Tours with instructor including equipment every day throughout the season.
Via Ferrata Loen is a physically demanding hike, and you must be in normal physical shape to be able to complete it.
As part of the route, you can cross the Gjølmunne Bridge , the longest via ferrata bridge in Europe. The bridge is 750 meters above sea level, is 120 meters long and crosses the 170-meter deep ice. The trip will definitely give you butterflies in your stomach. In addition, you can try your hand at the Gjølmunnestrengen , a 36-meter long wire bridge. If you wish, you can, before the Gjølmunne Bridge, try your hand at the new Stigull , a 40-meter long ladder with 120 steps and a 45-degree slope. You can also finish the via ferrata tour with the Zipline , which you can buy when booking, at check-in or in the Mountain Shop at the top. If you are ready for a real challenge, you can climb the new extreme routes Tors Hammar and “Ragnarok” , the toughest via ferrata route in Norway. Return with Loen Skylift or on foot via construction road to Holme (8 km) on Oppheim + possibly back to Loen (total 13 km). See overview map further down.
Practical information
Tour with instructor at 9, 10 and 11 am (max 40 guests per departure) and arrival 30 minutes before departure.
Rental of via ferrata equipment for those who want to go on their own only to experienced via ferrata climbers. In the middle of spring and fall, it may be possible to rent equipment all day. From mid-June to mid-August, as well as on weekends, experienced climbers can only rent equipment after 14:00.
Minimum weight of participant is 40 kg (approx. 12 years) and maximum 120 kg

Cruise guests from Olden cruise port can buy a round trip ticket for the Shuttle bus at the cruise port (without the Loen Skylift round trip ticket which is included in the Via Ferrata package). Olden Cruise is responsible for the shuttle bus.
The Via Ferrata Loen facility is ONLY open to guests who:
Book a tour at 9, 10 and 11 with an instructor at Loen Active
Rent via ferrata climbing equipment at the Loen Active store. NB: only for experienced via ferrata climbers, and starts after 2 pm
Have your own approved via ferrata climbing equipment and register with your name and phone number in the Loen Active store. Maintenance fee NOK 200 per person payment in the Loen Active store or on Vipps 101073. NB: only for experienced climbers, and start after 2 pm .
All commercial activity in Via Ferrata Loen will be carried out through Loen Active.

An experienced instructor will take you on the Via Ferrata Loen to Hoven at 1011 meters above sea level. We can include Stigull, Gjølmunnebrua and Gjølmunnestrengen. Then we take the easiest way down - with Loen Skylift. Safety equipment is included. The tour can be combined with lunch or dinner at Hoven Restaurant. You choose your own return time. Via Ferrata Loen incl. zipline and Loen Skylift
Join one of Loen Active's experienced instructors up the mountain wall. We can include Stigull, Gjølmunne Bridge and Gjølmunnestrengen on the way up, and you get to cross Gjølmunna in the Zipline when you reach the top. Then return to fjord level easily with Loen Skylift. Helmet, harness and return ticket to Loen Skylift are included. Zipline can also be booked separately . Climbing can be combined with lunch or dinner at Hoven Restaurant after the tour. You choose your own return time. Zipline is open daily from June 21st to August 17th. During the rest of the via ferrata season, Zipline is open every Saturday from June 1st until the autumn holidays.

Hire of via ferrata climbing equipment for experienced climbers
Experienced via ferrata climbers who want to do the tour without an instructor can rent via ferrata equipment (harness and sling with two carabiners, and helmet) in the Loen Active store when Via Ferrata Loen is open to traffic. On Saturdays, and daily from mid-June to mid-August, via ferrata equipment can only be rented after 2 p.m. due to our tours with instructors (starting at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.). During the rest of the season, it may be possible to start before 14:00, please contact Loen Active. All traffic at your own risk. Those who only rent via ferrata equipment buy any return ticket to Loen Skylift on their own (family ticket only in Fjordshop).

Ragnarok Extreme
In 2019, Norway's toughest via ferrata route opened in Loen. It has a difficulty level of F, making Loen one of the most complete via ferrata facilities in Europe. The new route runs west of the classic one, and is still extremely steep all the way. Climbing this route requires good strength and stamina, and those climbing Ragnarok should have climbed grade E before. Those who are unsure whether they can master this route should go the classic route, and test themselves in the alternative loop through "Tors Hammar" - a loop in category E. There is no instructor on the Ragnarok route, but you can rent special equipment in the Loen Active store. Read more about Ragnarok here.

Included in via ferrata tour with instructor: Instructor, harness, helmet and return with Loen Skylift.
Bring: Food, a large bottle of water (two liters), gloves (can be purchased at Loen Active for NOK 60), windproof jacket, long pants, buff and warm clothing depending on weather conditions. La Sportiva Hyper (via ferrata shoes with vibram soles) can be rented for NOK 125. La Sportiva via ferrata shoes can also be purchased at Loen Active. Baguettes of 90 g can be pre-ordered from Loen Active for NOK 80.
Estimated time: Via Ferrata Classic (1, 2 & 3) 5-6 hours including breaks.
Recommended age limit: 12 years in Via Ferrata Classic (minimum weight 40 kg).
Safety equipment: Guest must weigh between 40 and 120 kilograms for the safety equipment to be guaranteed and work.
We recommend that pregnant women wait to do Via Ferrata Loen until after giving birth.

Cancellation rules:
If canceled more than 15 days before the activity, there is a 90% refund.
If canceled less than 15 days before the activity, and more than 4 days before the activity, there is a 50% refund.
If canceled less than 4 days before the activity, there is no refund.
