About us

The Loen Skylift is one of the steepest in the world, lifting people from the fjord in Loen to the mountain Hoven (1011 m) in five minutes. At the top is Hoven Restaurant with 350 seats. The facility is part of a year-round nature-based experience arena designed for active explorers as well as families with children. Loen Skylift and Hoven Restaurant were opened by Queen Sonja on May 20, 2017.

From the fjord building, the ascent starts with the cable car to the mountain Hoven (1011 meters above sea level). After a few minutes in the air, you'll arrive at Hoven Restaurant, where you'll enjoy a 210-degree panoramic view of Skåla and Lovatnet to the east, Jostedalsbreen National Park and Olden to the south, and the Nordfjord, which meanders towards Stryn to the west. From Hoven you can experience the high mountains on your own in an extensive trail network, or with a guide. On foot or on skis. There are many possibilities - the choice is yours.

Loen Skylift AS is owned by Hotel Alexandra AS, Garaventa AG, Stryn municipality and local businesses and individuals. In total, there are around 100 shareholders in Loen Skylift.
