About Loen Skylift

A year-round experience arena,
with the mountain Hoven and the surrounding nature as its centerpiece.

The project was carried out in the company Loen Skylift AS where Hotel Alexandra AS, Garaventa AG, Nordfjord Kjøtt AS and Stryn municipality were the largest shareholders from the start. In addition, several companies and individuals in the region are on the ownership side of the company. In 2018, Hotel Alexandra AS took over the shares of Nordfjord Kjøtt.

The business idea is to develop product and event packages based on national and regional tourism strategies and natural advantages. The Loen Skylift, which takes you from the fjord to the mountains in five minutes, is the hub of the visitor destination.

The product originates from the spa and conference hotel Alexandra, Loen Active with the Via Ferrata Loen climbing trail, Gjølmunnebrua bridge and the Skåla Opp downhill race. The experience arena has been developed with several fjord and mountain concepts.

You start the ascent to the mountain Hoven (1011 m) from the fjord via Fjordbygget and the commuter train. When you reach the top, you will have a 210-degree panoramic view with views from Skåla and Lovatnet in the east, Jostedalsbreen and Olden in the south and out the Nordfjord and further towards Stryn in the west.

Varied experience-based offerings have been developed for different target groups. These range from easy to challenging activities on foot or on skis. Loen Skylift is located close to the cruise port in Olden, and is an excursion alternative from the ports of Geiranger, Hellesylt and Nordfjordeid. The building and lift are universally designed so that everyone can get up the mountain.

The project had an investment volume of NOK 267.5 million.
