Frequently asked questions

  • See opening hours here. Groups can book outside of regular opening hours.

  • You can buy a ticket on our website, but you can also buy at a vending machine or in Fjordshop on arrival. The tickets are not linked to scheduled departures, so the ticket is flexible in terms of when you want to take the cable car up or down. The validity date is stated on the ticket (seasonal).

  • The gravel road from Hoven to Oppheim is 7.8 km long. You then go down/up about 700 meters in height. You can take shortcuts on some parts of the road. From Oppheim, you must follow the asphalt road back to Loen (approx. 6 km, approx. 300 meters above sea level). You can book return transport from Oppheim with Stryn taxi or Olden taxi, or use your own car and park at Oppheim in the marked parking lot just before the barrier (parking fee 75,-). An overview map of the area can be found here. If you want to take the cable car one way, you buy a one-way ticket.

  • The road to Oppheim is closed at regular intervals during the winter to provide a construction road for transporting equipment and evacuation. When conditions are right, this is a fantastic toboggan run - in fact Norway's longest! Loen Skylift does not take responsibility for safety or that the road is pulled at all times. All traffic on the road is at your own risk. We ask those who plan to use the road to show consideration for others by adapting their speed. You may encounter machines, hikers, skiers and people walking on the road. The road passes through terrain that is prone to avalanches, so everyone should assess the risk of avalanches and check varsom.no. When snow conditions allow, there are good facilities for sledging at the top of Hoven as well.

  • Hotel Alexandra, Hotel Loenfjord and Loen Apartments are located close to Loen Skylift.

  • You can buy a ticket for the zipline on the 2nd floor of the mountain station during the zipline's opening hours (summer only). Then exit the building, and you will see the ziplines when you get behind the horseshoe (about 400 meters from the horseshoe). Take the shortcut down behind the horseshoe, or turn left and follow the widest path back down the mountain. Seasonal. Read more here.

  • Drones are dangerous in connection with air sports, and we ask everyone who flies drones to comply with the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority's rules and guidelines for drone flying. Separate rules apply to drones that are used for utility or commercial purposes where the operator has a special license. Unsafe flying will be reported to the CAA and/or the police.

  • Lovatnet is green because it contains clay particles and stone dust that the glaciers erode and the rivers carry with them. The glaciers crush rocks and mountains, day and night. When the glacier water flows into the lakes and fjords, it looks green, especially when the sun is shining.
