The Vikings are coming

Shetland Vikings income Hoven !

This day, Loen Skylift gets a great visit from the Shetland Islands when around 30 participants from the world-famous Up Helly Aa tradition come to Hoven .

Up Helly Aa is Shetland's largest cultural festival and a celebration of the archipelago's strong Norse heritage. Every year, the festival brings together thousands of people for torchlight processions, Viking ships and magnificent parades led by the so-called "Jarl Squad"; Vikings dressed in impressive handmade costumes, helmets, shields and axes. The festival has roots dating back to the 19th century and is today one of the most famous cultural events in Scotland.

At Loen Skylift, the audience will experience a performance inspired by this unique tradition. The Shetland Vikings bring song, stories, humor and a true Viking atmosphere to the mountains, with the spectacular view of Nordfjord as the backdrop.

The Vikings took Hoven at about 12:00 and will "ravage" the summit for about an hour.

Welcome to a very special meeting between Nordfjord and Shetland – high above the fjord!
