Guided summit tour with Breogfjell IFMGA summit guides
Loen Active offers guided summit tours from Loen Skylift in collaboration with Breogfjelland other guide companies, and below we present options of varying difficulty and length.
Short hike
From the top station you walk 150 vertical meters to Skredfjellet. From here you can choose different descents from between 300 to 1000 meters depending on snow and weather conditions, and skill level.Â
Medium to long hike
From the top station, you must first walk 400 meters to Staurinibba. This summit offers a 600 meter descent with fjord views to Lohøgsætra. From here, you can either go back up to Hoven, and continue the descent to Loen, or climb Sundshyrna, Dispahyrna or Geitafjellshyrna again. These peaks offer up to 1600 vertical meters of descent to Strynedalen (the opposite side of Loen), and at the end of the day you will have skied over 2000 meters down and only gone up 1400.
Long to very long trip
The first option starts by using the lifts to Stryn Vinterski up to 1000 meters above sea level. From here we continue up to Natakupa (400 meters above sea level) before descending up to 1300 meters to the valley. After lunch at one of the cozy cafes in Stryn center, we take a taxi to Loen Skylift and choose one of the options described above. If the snow conditions are right, we can get up to 3300 meters of descent this day.
The other option offers the spectacular Hoven - Storskredfjellet traverse. If you've driven down from Strynefjellet, you're sure to have noticed the strikingly beautiful mountain peak with the diamond-shaped glacier that towers over Oppstryn - that peak is Storskredfjellet, and Breogfjell can take you skiing down that glacier. The trip offers several choices. The shortest requires 1400 meters of ascent and gives 2100 meters of descent. It is also possible to add several shorter descents and ascents in several of the valleys and runs you pass on the traverse towards Storskredfjellet.Â
