Norway's longest toboggan run

"Norway's longest toboggan run" is a prepared path down from Hoven to Oppheim. Here you ride with fantastic fjord views for a full eight kilometers, divided into about 700 meters of altitude. The trip down brings big smiles to both young and old.

Note that the road ends at Holme/Oppheim, six km from the fjord station of Loen Skylift. There is a parking lot at Holme (for a fee). Most people choose to park a car at Holme, arrange a shuttle with friends/family or order a taxi (Stryn Taxi +47 57 87 23 50, Olden Taxi +47 950 86 146). Those who rent a sled should return the sled to the designated place where the sledge slope ends.

NB: All traffic on the groomed road to Oppheim is at your own risk. Follow the avalanche warning, show consideration and adapt your speed. You may encounter skiers, hikers, sledgers and machines along the road. Helmets must be worn when sledging (including when renting a toboggan). Children must always be accompanied by an adult.

Status of preparation can be found on this page.

Rent a toboggan, sled mat or bum board

You can hire toboggans, sled mats and bum boards from Loen Active's mountain shop or order them online. If the mountain shop is closed, you can contact the Skylft team and he/she will help you (payment with Vipps). Helmets must be worn when tobogganing and are always included in the rental. For tobogganing to Oppheim, only toboggan and snowracer are recommended. Rented sledges and helmets can be returned to the designated area where the toboggan run ends. You can also rent winter clothing in the mountain shop.

Pre- or After-sledding in the restaurant

Enjoy the view from Hoven Restaurant with something to drink or bite into between sledging sessions. Here you will find the menu and a link to book a table.

Which ticket should I buy?

Loen Skylift has several ticket options, but if you want to go back down, you can buy a one-way ticket or a day pass. With a day pass, you can take as many rides as you want during the day (within opening hours). A one-way family ticket is also an option, a family ticket applies to two adults and two children (6-15 years), more children can be added to the family ticket. Please note that family tickets are only available at the ticket office, Fjordshop.
