Loen Skylift, Loen Active and Hoven Restaurant are environmentally certified
Operations Manager Per Helge Bø has been central to the process of certifying Loen Active.
Loen Skylift and Loen Active have now been certified as Eco-Lighthouses. Hotel Alexandra, Hotel Loenfjord and Hoven Restaurant have also achieved the Eco-Lighthouse label.
This commits us to working even more purposefully to continually improve our environmental performance in the areas of working environment, waste management, energy use, purchasing and transportation. This puts us in a good position to help achieve several of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
The process started in December 2021 as a joint project for all companies in the Alexandra Group, and the last company was certified in early November 2022. The Energy Efficiency Center in Ørsta has acted as advisor up to the completion of the certification. A key representative from each company has been responsible for implementation, in collaboration with the overall project manager in the Group. Innovation Norway has contributed funds to the certification process.
What is an Eco-Lighthouse?
The Eco-Lighthouse scheme is operated by the Eco-Lighthouse Foundation, and is Norway's most widely used certificate for businesses that want to document their environmental efforts and demonstrate social responsibility. More than 9,000 businesses are certified as Eco-Lighthouses - from small and medium-sized individual businesses to large corporations and municipalities.
The Eco-Lighthouse certification is recognized by the authorities for public procurement, and approved as environmental documentation in tender competitions. Eco-Lighthouse is the first national scheme in Europe to be recognized by the EU.
A number of criteria must be fulfilled for businesses within the above-mentioned areas, and everything must be documented. Every year, companies must report on the achievement of goals, and they must be re-certified every three years to maintain certification.
What will this mean for businesses?
Certification as an Eco-Lighthouse will help to strengthen competitiveness and safeguard jobs, as well as contributing to green restructuring and raising the quality of what we offer.
The aim of the certification is to make the companies in the Group even more sustainable in areas such as the working environment, waste management, energy use, purchasing and transportation. This work will continue systematically and in the long term, with measures that will improve our contribution to the environment and thus contribute to a green and sustainable future.
